Travel CW key

After a camping trip using some QRP kit transceivers and a lightweight NorCal doublet, I realised that I needed some sort of lightweight CW key.

This is made from a strip of plastic, the kind that is used on annoying blister packaging that you can't open without scissors and tearing your hands apart. The plastic is folded over, the ends rounded and three holes drilled, two at each end for the contacts and one in the middle, at the fold, sized so that it grips the cable. The contacts are made from pop rivets, which are attached with the cable ends wrapped around. The untidy sides are cut off with snips and filed so that they are not uncomfortable with the fingers and the good side forms the contacts.

The key is quiet and great for night operation with headphones, without annoying the XYL!
